SKATING WAITERS

If you were visiting St. Moritz in the 1920s or 1930s, you would likely have seen them: the legendary skating waiters of the grand hotels. Trained to glide across the ice with trays laden with crystal glasses, ice, and chilled champagne, they served fur-clad guests lunch and cocktails right at the rink. For The I.C.E. St. Moritz in February 2023, Grand Hotel Suvretta House revived this tradition — and added a perfectly fitting twist: an Aston Martin DB5, James Bond edition, on the ice. Proof that the most charming rituals never disappear for good. They simply wait for their moment to return.
